My artistic career began in dentistry.
I spent 36 years simulating
nature and improving smiles.
I began taking photographic
images in 1969 after moving to the west.
The colors, shapes, shadows
and moods of the West best express my feelings for the outdoors.
Hiking and backpacking got
me to where I wanted to be and the camera helped hold on to those
moments.
I began to see
“improvements” that I’d like to make in composition or color.
I wanted to not only
capture what I saw but what I felt about what I saw.
That led me to oil
painting.
A lot of what I paint comes
from images I’ve captured through the lens.
I hope you enjoy the work
you see.
