DRAWING AND PAINTING CLASSES WITH LAURIE BRUSSEL
Laurie has been teaching a variety of classes through the Saddlebrooke Fine Arts Guild. Listed below is a short description of each clas.s
BEGINNER DRAWING: This is a four week class for individuals who have always been afraid to take their first drawing class and also for experienced artists who would like to build their confidence and deepen their artistic perceptions. Laurie will teach you to shift from your usual analytical processing (left brain mode) to a more creative way of thinking and seeing (right brain mode).
BEGINNER DRAWING II: Laurie will again focus on the right side of your brain (the creative side) to enable you to easily delve into such areas as composition, shading, texture, shape, and line. Learn more about drapery and folds and explore the medium of pen and ink.
ADVANCED DRAWING: This 4 week class delves deeper into the drawing process by exploring the elements of drawing such as line, form, value, space (perspective) and texture. Laurie challenges your creative side with her interesting and fun projects.
CHARCOAL DRAWING: Charcoal is one of our oldest mediums known for it’s wonderful contrasts of lights and darks. In this 4 week class Laurie teaches you how to use the medium properly to create a wonderful, dynamic drawing.
COLORED PENCIL: Colored Pencil is a very impressive, sensitive medium. When used properly the colors become luminescent. This 4 week class teaches you how to use the medium to get the most valued results. Lessons in color theory and composition are also included to help you understand the total color drawing.
ANY MEDIUM CLASS: In this 4 week class students choose their own drawing medium and work independently on their own projects. Each student works on his/her own level and at his/her own pace. Laurie is available to guide and work with you on an individual basis.
DRAWING FROM THE LIVE MODEL: The purpose of this class is to teach the student to see and understand the human figure. Drawing the human form at rest or in motion is one of the best ways to perfect your observational skills, to learn to express line and mass, and to experiment with different drawing mediums. In this once a month class you will be taught proportion, movement, light and shading among other techniques.
BEGINNER ACRYLIC CLASS: You will be introduced to the Acrylic medium…..the colors, advantages, types and a variety of surfaces used. Students will work on their own projects at their own pace. Laurie will be doing demonstrations and working with students individually.
