You may choose to work with oils, Water based oils,
or Acrylics. We have permission to use the easels in the
Topaz room, but if you have a plein air easel, I recommend using it.
Recommended colors (you don’t need to get every color, but it
is better to have more choices then less while
Impressionism painting):
Gamblin’s "Flake White Replace"(oil), or Titanium White
(acrylic)
Yellow Ochre
Indian Red
Burnt Sienna
Lemon yellow
Cadmium yellow
Permanent Rose
Cadmium Red

General Supplies for oil and acrylic:
-Portable Easel (If you already have one)
-Tray or table (for you palette)
-Chair (optional)
-Umbrella (optional, be sure you can anchor it)
-Pallet knives (metal and trowel shaped, small and flexible are
best)
-Painters’ protective lotion such as "Invisible glove", "Liquid
glove"
Optional - Small Bristol brushes in various shapes and
sizes
-Paper towels (shop towels are especially nice)
-Drinking water
Oil
-Pallet (preferably glass)
-Xacto scraper (for glass pallets)
Acrylic
-"Masterson Stay-wet" Palette with sponge and sheets of
Stay-wet palette paper
-Container for water (a large plastic water cup or a glass jar work
well)
- Jar of Modeling Paste (Liquitex, will be with acrylic mediums)
- (Small) Bottle of Acrylic Retarder (Liquitex, will be with
acrylic mediums)
Gessoed Masonite panels (two coats of Liquitex Gesso on smooth
side. Home Depot or Lowe’s will cut down a 4’x8’ piece to any
size. I recommend 12"x16", you can get 24 panels from one board)
